Preview Woodstock Experience titles on AOL Music

40 years ago, at what Rolling Stone called "the most famous event in rock history", the original Woodstock Music & Art Fair was held in Bethel, New York. Of the 32 acts that performed during the festival, five of them, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Johnny Winter, Santana, and Sly & the Family Stone, had just recorded albums for Sony Music labels. For the first time today, the Woodstock Experience series combines those albums along with the music from their festival performance in one wonderful package. Elvis Presley's Memphis sessions proved that sometimes you can go home again. It was January 1969, and Elvis had not recorded in his hometown since leaving Sun Records for RCA in 1955. But the renewed focus and ambition sparked by his wildly successful TV comeback special the previous month propelled him back into a Memphis studio, where in just two weeks of sessions he made some of the most memorable and artistically satisfying music of his career.

This burst of inspired creativity resulted in the critically acclaimed album From Elvis In Memphis and its companion Back In Memphis. "Suspicious Minds," "In The Ghetto," "Don't Cry Daddy" and "Kentucky Rain" were among the unforgettable hits that resulted. This 40th anniversary Legacy Edition contains every track from the sessions recorded at American Studios in Memphis in January and February of 1969.

Got an Elvis Story? Graceland Wants to Hear It

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Managers of Elvis Presley's Graceland are looking for people with personal stories to tell about the king of rock 'n' roll for an oral history enterprise called the Elvis Presley Legacy Project. The stories are being videotaped and will become part of Graceland's archives. Examples can be found on the Graceland Web site.

"If you encountered Elvis and have a story to share with the world, we would love to include you in this project," Graceland says on the site, which has a "submit your story" link. The project is scheduled to run through Jan. 8, 2010, which would have been Presley's 75th birthday. He died at Graceland of heart disease and drug abuse on Aug. 16, 1977 at age 42.

Celebrate Fourth of July with Boston Pops and Neil Diamond

The Esplanade on Boston's Charles River will explode with color and sound once again for the city's 36th annual Fourth of July extravaganza. Neil Diamond of "Sweet Caroline" fame, a singer near and dear to the hearts of Red Sox fans, is this year's featured musical performer. Maestro Keith Lockhart and The Boston Pops will also be on hand, with CBS late night host Craig Ferguson as emcee. This year, Rozzi Fireworks of Ohio will do the honors with a dazzling 21-minute fireworks display, accompanied by the traditional Pops rendition of the 1812 overture.

NEW YORK, NY: Action sports network FUEL TV is partnering up with Sony Music's Legacy Recordings to give their fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to appear in the unique fan-created music video for Pearl Jam's "Porch," from the band's iconic debut album Ten.

To enter, fans must submit the best action sports clip of themselves they have - skateboarding, surfing, BMX - anything goes. If it's awesome, we want to see it. Entry is closed on DATE, so get working on it! Winners will have their clip featured in the video next to skating pros such as Nolan Lee, Chris Martin and Brad Harper, as well as Pearl Jam.

Johnny Cash Social Network Launches and a $500 Prize Offered

"We wanted to provide a community which went way beyond the features offered in a traditional forum environment, and this does just that. The spirit of the Woodstock Music & Art Fair of 1969 resonates 40 summers later, as if it were just yesterday.

In 1969, five acts recorded albums for the Columbia, Epic, and RCA labels (divisions of SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT) and brought their music to Max Yasgur's farm that summer. For the first time, THE WOODSTOCK EXPERIENCE couples those albums with music from the festival, providing a pocket portrait of what each artist and band was experiencing during 1969. JEFFERSON AIRPLANE - THE WOODSTOCK EXPERIENCE (RCA/Legacy)

King ("Be Careful With A Fool"); coupled with eight songs from his Sunday evening set at the festival, including seven previously unissued live tracks.

Each THE WOODSTOCK EXPERIENCE disc will be packaged inside a mini-LP cover with inner paper sleeves: CD-one replicating the front and back covers of the original LP, and CD-two featuring iconic photography of the artist performing at the festival. These mini-LPs will be housed in a paper-board slipcase sharing continuity of design recognition across all five packages. The slipcase will also contain a two-sided 16x20-inch fold-out poster, with one side displaying iconic photography of the artist performing at the festival, and the other side displaying a classic crowd shot of the audience.

The upcoming 40th anniversary celebration includes such highly-anticipated projects as Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock (which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, starring Demetri Martin, Liev Schreiber and Emile Hirsch, via Focus Features); and Woodstock co-founder Michael Lang's The Road To Woodstock, written with Holly George-Warren (on HarperCollins' Ecco imprint).

Legacy Recordings, the world's premier catalog music label, has opened its vaults to create the Legacy Digital Reissue initiative, making an incredible selection of classic albums and deep catalog rarities available for the first time in the digital realms.

Drawing from the vast resources of the Sony Music archives, spanning the entire history of commercial recordings, the ongoing Legacy Digital Reissue program offers music fans an opportunity to rediscover old favorites, experience forgotten musical rarities, and explore an incomparably rich variety of genres, artists and sounds from the last 125 years.

Legacy Digital releases are being made available through all major digital service providers.

"The digital realm offers an unprecedented opportunity for Legacy to delve deep into its vast catalog, offering pristine state-of-the-art digital releases catering toevery music fan and every musical taste, from the esoteric to the mainstream," said Adam Block, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Legacy Recordings.

The Buckinghams

Kris Kristofferson
Best-known for classics including "Me & Bobby McGee," "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down," "Help Me Make It Through The Night" and others, American singer-songwriter-musician Kris Kristofferson is one of the originators of the outlaw country ethos.Legacy is digitally releasing seven essential albums from the artist's Monument Records catalog: Border Lord (1972), Spooky Lady's Sideshow (1974), Who's To Bless & Who's To Blame (1975), Surreal Thing (1976), Easter Island (1978), Shake Hands with the Devil (1979) and To The Bone (1981).

Pete Droge
Legacy is releasing two important titles from the American post-modern pop-folk artist Pete Droge: Find a Door, released in 1996 as Pete Droge & the Sinners, and 1998's Spacey & Shakin.

Founded in 1988 by the legendary producer Rick Rubin, the Los Angeles-based American Recordings (originally Def American), is best-known for a string of hit recordings from artists like Slayer, the Black Crowes, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty and System of a Down among others.Legacy is proud to offer fans a chance to delve more deeply into the American Recordings catalog to discover hidden treasures from a variety of important artists.

Raging Slab
Combining the hardcore thrash of speed-metal with the down-home beer & bar-b-cue of Southern Rock, Raging Slab released the double album party opus, Dynamite Monster Boogie Concert, in 1993, ten years after the group formed in Hootersville, Pennsylvania.Dynamite Monster Boogie Concert is being released for the first time digitally alongside 1996's Sing Monkey, Sing!

Andrew "Dice" Clay
One of the most notorious signings in American Recordings history, the always controversial (and frequently hilarious) stand-up comedian Andrew "Dice" Clay rose to national prominence after starring in his first HBO special, "The Diceman Cometh," in 1989 and first feature film, "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane," in 1990.Legacy is digitally releasing a quintet of Dice's seminal work: Dice (1990), The Day The Laughter Died (a two CD set from 1990), Dice Rules: Dice Live At Madison Square Garden (1991), 40 Too Long (1992), and The Day The Laughter Died, Part 2 (1993).

Dan Baird
Best-known as a founding member of the Georgia Satellites, Dan Baird set off on a solo career in the 1990s.Released for the first time in the digital realm are Dan's solo releases: Love Songs For The Hearing Impaired (1992), featuring his first-hit-to-chart "I Love You Period" (which reached #26 on the Billboard Top 100), and 1998's Buffalo Nickels.

MC 900 Ft. Jesus
Classically-trained Dallas-born musician Mark Griffin christened himself MC 900 Ft. Jesus after a phrase in a sermon by Oral Roberts.Combining his love of rap with an experimental edge, MC 900 Ft. Jesus released One Step Ahead of the Spider in 1994.The album showcases the hit "If I Only Had A Brain," best-known for its Spike Jonze-directed video featured in a "Beavis & Butthead" episode.
